Simbo Fowora is a seasoned Nigerian cook with over 40 years of experience. A mother of five, she was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, where she spent hours learning from her mother the intricacies of Nigerian cooking. In Nigerian culture, it is customary for daughters to be in the kitchen with their mothers, and it was in this environment that Simbo honed her culinary skills.
She has been professionally involved in the food industry for years, and in 2006 made a guest appearance on the Food Network show Sara’s Secrets, teaching viewers how to prepare a Nigerian dinner. She has also hosted cooking segments on YouTube, sharing her expertise with a global audience.
Her platform, Summy’s Nigerian Cooking Connection, serves as a hub for authentic Nigerian recipes from her kitchen, aimed at helping people — particularly those in the diaspora — recreate traditional dishes and share them with friends and family. Her recipes, including her widely circulated Jollof Rice, have appeared on Food Network and food sites around the web.
She’s relatively low-profile compared to celebrity chefs, but has built a warm, dedicated following as a home cook and cultural ambassador for Nigerian cuisine.
